Hiya! My name’s Spencer Drake. I’m the head of campus security here at Normalton University. I used to work undercover for a covert agency, but I keep that on the downlow to prevent retaliation from the bad guys that I put in prison. As far as they know, I’m six feet under, and I need to keep it that way in order to stay above ground and breathing.

My niece Abby attends NU and it was through her that I met Dani Sloan who owns the Chef-to-Go culinary company. Dani and I have become a lot more than friends and I’ve had to pull up some of my old tricks to help her investigate a couple of homicides that she’s stumbled across.

However, for this last one, I needed her to help me get out of a sticky situation.

On a typical day, one where I’m not a murder suspect, I keep busy leading my team of security officers. I generally work the day shift and spend a lot of my time planning programs and figuring out ways to keep our students safe. We’ve had some unusual situations occur here on campus. Everything from a mysterious creature in our lagoon to threats against our college mascots.

Although, none of that was what I was expecting when I took this job, I was taking most of it in stride—you wouldn’t believe what I saw while I was undercover—but then my ex turned up engaged to some billionaire that owns most of Normalton. Last I heard, she was in Chicago married to my former best friend, so it was quite a surprise to see her—and not a pleasant one.

And the hits just kept coming. First, I find out that Dani is catering her engagement party. Then my ex ends up dead at said party and all eyes turned to me.

On a positive note, during our investigations to clear my name, Dani and I grew closer. We ended up spending lots of time together and it was clear that she was just as sweet and beautiful as I had thought. Once I was reassured that I wasn’t rushing into another doomed relationship, I was all in. Now I just have to convince her since her past experiences in trying to find love were almost as bad as mine.
