Now it’s time to learn more about the authors we read. . .

Why do you write the genre that you write?
I’m a huge fan of paranormal cozy mysteries. I love the idea of a world inhabited by fairies, ghosts, shifters, and other supernatural beings. I also love reading books that keep me on my toes, guessing who-done-it, how, and why. When I began writing novels it made perfect sense to write the kind of books that I enjoy reading. After all, as a writer you are your very first reader!

What’s the quirkiest quirk one of your characters has?
Oh, now that’s a loaded question, since just about all of my characters are quirky! One of my favorites is feisty octogenarian, Zell. She has too much energy, no filters, and enjoys every moment of her life – especially those moments that happen during snacks and meals! For a tiny little thing she sure loves to eat, and she’ll take every opportunity to help herself to a piece of cake or a s’more.

Tell us how you got into writing?
I’ve been reading and writing since childhood! My love of books started when my mom got me a library card in preschool, then blossomed when I was picked for the Principals Reading Group in kindergarten. I still read something every single day!

How many books do you have published?
I’ve had 26 books published. Twelve parenting books, and then fourteen magical cozy mystery novels!

Where do you write?
Anywhere I can sit with my laptop on my lap! I’ve written on a plane, a boat, a train, in a car, in a doctor’s waiting room, in a park… Being a mother of four, I learned long ago how to be flexible!

What is your favorite deadline snack?
Oooo! A cup of green tea along with one of my two favorites: Freshly popped popcorn or Dots Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Twists. (If you haven’t tasted them, you should!)

Who is an author you admire?
The list of authors I admire has grown exponentially over the past few years. I’m a member of Sister’s in Crime (a nationwide group of mystery writers) plus I’ve become friends with many cozy writers. It’s a group of super-supportive people – and I admire all of them for their dedication to the craft and willingness to support each other.

What is your favorite beverage to end the day?
At the end of the day, I love to sit by the fire, read a cozy mystery, and drink a cup of chamomile caramel nighttime tea.

What is next for you?
I’m writing the next Magical Mystery Book Club Journey. It’s set in a wellness retreat and contains quite a few surprises for my readers!
