First off, let me introduce myself. I’m Alex Moreland, and I’m an FBI agent. I see so much crime in my real job that when I get a few days off, I like to relax and enjoy the company of my girl, the feisty redheaded, sports-loving journalist masquerading as the culinary reporter for the Ranchero Globe.
So what could be more relaxing than a Caribbean cruise with my lady?
Hello! Do you all know Jordan? Nothing – – and I mean absolutely nothing – – is ever simple or relaxing with her. She’s attracted to trouble like a fly to a spider web. And how hysterical is it to think she could judge a culinary contest when she doesn’t even know the difference between caviar and a good Texas bean dip?
Are you starting to get the picture?
When an arrogant Italian chef falls face first into his signature halibut dish the first night of the competition, my girl springs into action and searches for the killer – – even though the man’s death has been ruled accidental. So what happens next?
I’ve been sworn to secrecy, but you can read all about it in MURDER FOR THE HALIBUT, available now from Berkley Prime Crime. Follow Jordan and the Empire Apartments gang as they cruise through Puerto Rico, St. Kitts, and more as she searches for clues to find the person only she believes is a killer.
Will she get into trouble doing it?
Of course, but that’s her story to tell. I’m too busy trying to keep her out of hot water AGAIN.
My question for y’all today is where is your favorite place to cruise? Even if you haven’t had the opportunity to go, I’m sure you’ve dreamed about it. So where would you like to go? One lucky commenter will win a copy of Jordan’s latest adventure in MURDER FOR THE HALIBUT.

I’ve never been on a cruise but I’d love to take one to Alaska!
kpbarnett1941[at]aol.com
That’s a fantastic cruise. The glaciers are awesome. Someone just told me they got to actually walk on one. I hope you get to go, but if you do, take a coat even though the cruises are in the summer months. This Texas girl had to buy a coat.
I’d love to go to the British Isles. I must say that I keep trying NOT to start yet another series, but you keep luring me in…well done. 😉
I don’t have a clue where cruises go, but it would be fun to go on one.
Ah. Mare, what’s a few more books on your TBR pile?? As for the British Isles, that’s one of my dream destinations, too. I hope we both get to go.
Here I go again. Nancy-Mare. Yeah, they sound alike!!
Nancy, they are fun, and I hope you get to go.
I would like to cruise to Alaska. Thank you for the chance to win
You picked a great destination, Nancy. Fingers crossed for you.
And why did I write Nancy?? Oh, I know. It sounds so much like Angela!! Sheesh!! I need more coffee.
No problem on calling me Nancy. I have been seeing a lot of Alaska pictures lately and it looks beautiful there.
I’ve been on an Alaskan cruise (Karen, Angela – go when you can; it’s an amazing trip!) and although I’d like to go back, I’d like to go to other places first. So either Hawaii or the Mediterranean.
Elaine, I haven’t been on either of those two destinations, either, but now you have me wanting to go. When can we leave?
As soon as I win the lottery. 🙂 I’m still paying for the Alaskan cruise.
We enjoyed our time on the Alaska Marine Highway, but it convinced us that cruises are not for us! The book sounds interesting though. Dee
Dee, cruises are not for everyone. Like my heroine, I wear the patches behind my ear the entire time. Fingers corseted for the giveaway.
What a great question! Is it too silly to say I’d like to go on a Disney Cruise??? I just think it’d be so much fun. 🙂
ladychrisa(at)hotmail(dot)com
Thanks Dru Ann!
It absolutely is not silly. I love watching kids at play. We are going with our kids and grandkids on a cruise next summer to celebrate our anniversary. We looked into Disney but thought we would get more bang for out buck with a Royal Caribbean cruise on the Allure of the Seas ship. It has all the Dreamworks characters running around and all the great things for kids, too.
Love being on a cruise. We have only cruised the Caribbean but that is okay. Would love to win.

Fingers crossed for you, too, Nancy. And the Caribbean is a really relaxing, fun cruise. We went on one from Barcelona and around Italy and docked every day at a different city. I was so exhausted when I got home from vacation–I needed a vacation!!
I would love a Disney cruise….guess I’m still a kid at heart!
I’ve never been on a cruise, but it would have to somewhere warm, probably the Caribbean, it looks so beautiful there, and of course, if I did go, I’d love to win this book to take with me so I’d have something to read!
Me too, Linda. I hope we both get to go someday.
LOL on Alex’s take on Jordan. Can’t wait to read it. About cruising – Hawaii! I’d love to visit all the islands.
Hey, Margery, thanks for following me on my blog hopping today. Hawaii is one place I would absolutely love to cruise. Kauai is my all time favorite place in the world.
Years ago I went on a cruise from Boston to Bermuda and LOVED it. I would do it again in a heartbeat (and plan to at some point in the future). Cruises are the best way to travel. So relaxing. 🙂
Treat yourself to another cruise, Catherine. They really are relaxing. Just curious. How would you have felt if you were in the coffee shop and you saw 4 chefs and a cute old lady discussing how to kill someone on a cruise with food?? LOL that really happened.
I would like to cruise to Australia or Alaska if I had the time and money.
wfnren(at)aol(dot)com
Ooh, Australia. I hadn’t even thought of that one. Guess I’ll have to sell 90 more books so I can go. Thanks for commenting, Wendy.
I would love to take a cruise to the tropical islands.. =) somewhere warm and sunny…this book sounds so good!
Thanks for the chance to win! =)
Books, I hope you do get a chance to go on that cruise…and read this book!! Good luck.
I’d love to cruise the Greek isles….. And would love to win a copy of your book!
Alicia, the Greek Isles and Croatia have always been on my dream list. I’ve heard they’re beautiful. Good luck with the contest.
I would love to win a copy!
I have been on a cruise and I loved it! I would like to cruise Europe!
Squenn, I’ve done Italy, but not all of Europe. I would love that, too. Fingers crossed for you as well.
I have never been on a cruise before. I would love to do a cruise in the Mediterranean Sea and the Bahamas. This book sounds intriguing to read and i will add it to my wish list of books to read. Happy New Year!
Elisa, with a little luck, you;ll win the freebie here. I hope one day you do get to go on that cruise.
I borrowed a lot from Disney when I wrote a story using their park theme throughout an imaginary cruise – long before I knew Disney planned a ship. I’ve been on a Greek cruise to Crete/Mykonos/Ephesus that I’d love to do again. I was amazed, though, to find grafitti on the cactus in Athens! The second time I wanted to go to Greece, they canceled flights because of unrest there (it would not necessarily have deterred me but I had no choice). I’d cruise Europe anytime and have yet to see Barbados, so that would be wonderful as well.
I’ve been seeing the author’s name a lot on new release lists. Hope I win so I can check the books out for myself. Love the play-on-words title.
Judy, you’re seeing my name a lot on new releases because I have FIVE new books coming out this year. When I sold my first story to Berkley, the editor loved it but she was looking for a cozy and said she’d have to ruin my ghost mystery to make it one. So, I sold three books on proposal to her and then had to write them. The ones you see now are all the books I had already completed before I sold. HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE is the story that the first editor had to pass on and is the one that ultimately started my career. That one is coming form Midnight Ink in May. It’s a soft boiled mystery, ,which means it has sex and language and is R rated instead of PG.
I’ve never been to Greece and would absolutely love to go there.

Just noticed your picture. I love Nora!! She is such a classy lady.
And I love that you thought of the Disney cruise long before they did. Bet they read your book!!
I’ve never been on a cruise–but I did live in southeastern Alaska for a few years and would love to take a cruise there along the beautiful coast.

I’ve always dreamed of going on a cruise. We even planned one for our 25th wedding anniversary, but our son got married 3 days before and we had to cancel –that was going on 20 years now. My best bet seems to be reading about a cruise. I’d love to win your book. I really like the title.

Darlene, it’s never too late to go on a cruise. And this year maybe you’ll get lucky and be able to take a free book with you!! Thanks for commenting.
Thanks Liz and Alex for dropping by. I would love to take an Alaskan cruise and then take the train ride to Denali Park.
It was a blast, Dru Ann. Thanks for having me. You’ll pick a winner, right?
Yes, I’ll pick a name tomorrow.
That’s a great train ride. We were lucky and had a clear day and could see Mt. Denali from the train. Couldn’t see it from the park which was a lot closer to the mountain.
I’ve would also like to cruise to Alaska.
This is a wonderful series. What a great title.

I have never been on a cruise but would love to take one going to Alaska or Scandinavia. Seeing glaciers, icebergs, fjords and arctic wildlife would be awesome!
