My name’s Angie and frankly, that’s all you need to know.

I’m a Jersey girl and if you have a problem with that I have a solution, but we’d have to step outside. I was born and raised in the Garden State, but lately I’ve been visiting Los Angeles because of my friend Sandy.

Sandy Moss is the real reason you’re reading this post. She’s a lawyer, and until recently was a county prosecutor (we don’t have district attorneys) in New Jersey. She’s also my best friend.

For some reason – mostly because of a guy, of course – Sandy quit her job and moved out to L.A. to work for some big deal firm that specializes in what they call family law, which is mostly divorces. This being a big deal firm and being in Southern California, we’re talking about some serious divorces, often involving people who work in movies and TV, which are my two favorite things in the world.

I am an avid TV watcher and my favorite show right now is called Legality. It’s about a law firm in Portland, Oregon. But mostly I like to watch it because of Patrick McNabb, who plays Arthur Kirkland, the sexiest attorney west of the Mississippi River. I’d watch Patrick McNabb just stand there.

That’s part of why I came to L.A. Patrick (we’re allowed to call him that now) was getting divorced from Patsy (the singer – you remember) and Sandy was assigned to be the assistant attorney or something on his case. Then Patsy was found dead, murdered with – get this – a bow and arrow. Patrick was accused of killing her and Sandy became the lead attorney on his defense.

Let’s just say things started building up and I decided Sandy needed some backup, not in the courtroom but just in case somebody decided to get, you know, physical with her. So I took a couple of weeks off from my job (I manage some Dairy Queens in central Jersey) and bought an open-ended plane ticket to Hollywood. Well, Los Angeles. Same thing.

But from there it gets complicated. Like people getting shot, people getting threatened with razors, betrayals on the witness stand and those are just the headlines.

Somebody named E.J. Copperman wrote up our “adventure” as a book, that came out on January 5th. Personally I think a couple of liberties have been taken with the story but most of it’s true. I did get to meet Patrick McNabb and what’s better than that?

The rest of it was about this pair of shoes, which is why the book is called Inherit the Shoes. But that would be telling you too much. Read the book; you’ll find out.

Just don’t get in the way of my friend Sandy because I’m usually a pretty nice girl (you can ask anybody) but when Sandy’s in trouble, let’s just say you don’t want to be on Angie’s bad side.

It’s 3,000 miles away, but I will always be from New Jersey.

New Jersey prosecutor Sandy Moss is tired of petty criminals, and a new job at a glitzy Los Angeles law firm seems the perfect career move. Putting 3,000 miles between her and her ex-boyfriend is just an added bonus.

But on Sandy’s first morning as a family attorney, she inadvertently kills her new career stone dead when she offends her boss during a meeting with the firm’s top celebrity client, charismatic TV star Patrick McNabb. But that’s not as dead as Patrick’s soon-to-be ex-wife, Patsy, is that evening, when she’s discovered shot by an arrow, her husband standing over her.

Did Patrick really kill his wife in a dispute over a pair of shoes? All signs point to yes. But Patrick is determined to clear his name, using all the legal skills he’s learned from playing a lawyer on TV, and to Sandy’s deep dismay, she’s the only person he’ll allow to help . . .
