Chloe Jackson sits down for a question-and-answer session with druโ€™s book musings so that we, the readers, can get to know all about her. Are you ready?ย  Chloe, take it away!

What is your full name?
Chloe (middle name to be determined) Jackson

How old are you?
I’m 28. I’d like to say I’m mature for my age and I am about ninety-five percent of the time.

What is your profession?
I’m part owner of the Sea Glass Saloon and the barback/waitress/cleaner/or “whatever else needs to be done just please don’t ask me to make a drink” person.

Do you have a significant other?
Fans self — I hope so.

What is their name and profession?
Rip Barnett is a former lawyer and current volunteer fireman from a wealthy family. Okay, so I don’t really know how he supports himself and we aren’t to the point where I feel like I can ask.

Do you have any children?
Nope and none in my near future.

Do you have any siblings?
Two completely annoying older brothers. Thankfully, they live in Chicago a good 900 miles north of me.

Are your parents nearby?
So far no. But after they retired they bought an RV and have been traveling around the country. I’m sure they’ll show up here in the Florida panhandle one of these days.

Who is your best friend?
Joaquin Diaz the head bartender at the Sea Glass.

Do you have any pets?
I rescued a kitten, but Vivi (my boss and co-owner of the Sea Glass) fell in love with Pippi and that was that.

What town do you live in?
I live in the lovely town of Emerald Cove, Florida in the panhandle of Florida which is also called the Emerald Coast, the Redneck Riviera (they are frantically trying to shed that image and even changed the name of the long running Mullet Festival) and L.A.– Lower Alabama.

Do you live in a small town or a big city?
Small town near a bigger town that’s a huge tourist destination.

Type of dwelling and do you own or rent?
I live in a two bedroom, two bath concrete block house that sits on top of a dune overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. I inherited the house from my friend Boone.

What is your favorite spot in your home?
The screened porch that runs across the back of the house.

Favorite meal and dessert?
Almost any seafood dish except oysters. I think oysters in any form are disgusting with a capital D. Favorite dessert? Yes, please. I’m not picky.

Do you have any hobbies?
I run so I can eat more and I love to read.

What is your favorite vacation spot?
I live in a vacation spot, but miss my hometown of Chicago.

What music do you listen to?
There’s lots of island/Caribbean music playing at the Sea Glass. It makes me happy.

Do you have a favorite book?
Give me a good mystery or thriller!

What is your idea of a really fun time?
I love water sports — paddle boarding, wave running, wake boarding, and I’m thinking about learning to Scuba dive. Between us, scuba diving kind of scares me.

If you were to write a memoir, what would you call it?
How to Find a Body in One Easy Lesson

Amateur or professional sleuth and whom do you work with?
It doesn’t get any more amateur than me. I occasionally partner with local fixer (whatever that means) Ann Williams. Well, it’s not really a partnership but more of a “Ann, will you help me I’m desperate” type of arrangement.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
I get up early so I can run on the beach before it gets crowded (see question above about my love to eat) and then I get ready for work. Usually, I show up around ten thirty for our eleven o’clock open. In the summer season I work my rear off until we close at nine thirty.

What is a typical day when you are on a case?
About the same as a regular day except I’m a bit nosier than usual and I listen more carefully to what the locals are saying.

Saloon owner Chloe Jackson is after a murderer with skeletons in the closet–and one on a boat.

BAD TO THE BONE

Chloe loves her new life pouring beers and mixing cocktails at the Sea Glass Saloon in the Florida Panhandle town of Emerald Cove. But on the job, the only exercise she gets is walking from one end of the bar to the other, so in the mornings she loves to run on the beach. On this morning’s foggy run, she spots a sailboat washed up on a sandbar. Hearing a cry, she climbs aboard the beached vessel to investigate and finds not only a mewling kitten–but a human skeleton in the cabin.

The skeleton is tied back to Chloe’s friend Ralph, whose wife disappeared on a sailboat with three other people twelve years ago. Believing his wife was lost at sea, Ralph remarried. Now he finds himself a murder suspect. Chloe is determined to find out who’s been up to some skulduggery, but her sleuthing will lead her into some rough waters and some bone-chilling revelations. . .
