There is so much to do when you’re a Fairy Godmother. It’s not only flitting hither and yon. Oh no! You have to think about the wishes you grant and what effect they will have on your beloved fairy godchild.
Take my godchild, Jessie Morton-Manhattan.
She really only had a moment of weakness when she wished that her husband, Ren Faire Bailiff Chase Manhattan, was no longer solving crimes in the Village where they live. It wasn’t terribly selfish. She wanted to go away for their one-year wedding anniversary.
And yet, there are consequences to every wish. When I granted Jessie’s wish and she was catapulted into a world of her choosing where Chase was no longer Bailiff, she didn’t realize how many other things in her life would change.
I realized, of course, but in order to learn, we must show the ones we love why the problems they face in their lives are important to overcome. I was with her the whole time, encouraging her and helping her along. I wouldn’t just leave her to do it all by herself.
Not only does Jessie have to make Chase love her again, she also has to encourage him to help her solve the mystery of a young fairy that was killed in the Village. All things are connected. This is an important lesson for Jessie, and one she figures out the hard way.
I don’t think she’ll be wishing anything again very soon. Maybe not even the good stuff.
Fairy Godmothers always know best!
