Holly White first appeared in Twelve Slays of Christmas and one of the best ways to learn about a person is by asking questions, so let’s get to know Holly.

What is your name?
Holly White.

How old are you?
Twenty-seven.

What is your profession?
I’m the sole proprietor of Holly’s Jolly Jewelry, and I also help my mom at the Hearth, that’s the café at Reindeer Games, our family’s Christmas tree farm.

Do you have a significant other?
No. I had a fiancé last year, and we were supposed to have a Christmas Eve wedding, but that didn’t work out.

Do you have any sibling(s)?
No.

Cats, dogs or other pets?
Yes! I have a calico recuse cat named Cindy Lou Who.

What town do you live in?
Mistletoe, Maine.

House or building complex? Own or Rent?
I live at the guest house on my family’s tree farm.

What is your favorite spot in your house?
On the couch in front of my fireplace with an afghan and Cindy Lou Who on my lap.

Who is your best friend?
Caroline West, co-owner of Caroline’s cupcakes. She’s business partners with my mother’s friend, Delores Cutter, who everyone loves and calls Cookie. Who wouldn’t love a lady named Cookie Cutter?

Amateur sleuth or professional?
Amateur.

Whom do you work with when sleuthing?
Normally, I work on my own, though Caroline has been known to aid and abet on occasion.

Favorite dessert?
That’s a tie. I love my mom’s cinnamon Saint Snickerdoodles, but Caroline’s sugar cookie cupcakes are downright magical!

Favorite hobby?
Jewelry making! I melt old bottles and colored glass into adorable replica holiday treats, like gumdrops, candy canes and gingerbread men then attach them to bracelets, necklaces and earring posts. The process is remarkably soothing, and people buy them faster than I can make them most weeks.

Favorite vacation spot?
Our family’s cabin in the mountains. Plenty of fresh air, snow and sunshine.

Favorite color?
Red. It’s the color of holly berries, Santa’s suit and Rudolph’s nose, plus it reminds me of a roaring fire and my favorite peppermint tea.

Favorite author?
Alexandre Dumas.

Favorite sports team?
Mistletoe Mavericks (my high school).

Movies or Broadway?
Movies.

Are you a morning or a night person?
Morning.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
I start with breakfast at the Hearth. Everything Mom bakes is heavenly, but her crepes have been known to star in my dreams. Afterward, I help her set up the café for the day, then I stay to wait and clear tables until the crowd dies. I like to help with the Reindeer Games in the afternoons and make jewelry at night. I visit with my friends as often as possible and do a little sleuthing when needed, much to the dismay of Sheriff Evan Gray. Don’t tell him, but I get a kick out of ruffling his feathers, and I never mind when he stops by to say so, but that’s strictly between you and me.

You can read about Holly in ‘Twas The Knife Before Christmas, the second book in the “Christmas Tree Farm” mystery series.

It’s out of the cupcake tin, into the fire for Holly White’s best friend, Caroline. Can Holly clear Caroline’s name in time to go caroling?

When a body turns up in a larger-than-life candy bowl filled with peppermints on the town square, Holly White is horrified to learn her best friend Caroline is the main suspect. Everyone in town, including Mistletoe, Maine’s sheriff, saw Caroline fighting with the victim on the night of his death. Worse, a custom kitchen knife, engraved with Caroline’s initials was found with him.

Now, just ten days before Christmas, Holly’s up to her jingle bells in holiday shenanigans and in desperate need of a miracle. Juggling extra shifts at her family’s Christmas tree farm and making enough gingerbread jewelry to satisfy the crowd is already more than she can handle―and now she has to find time to clear her best friend of murder. Add in her budding relationship with the sheriff, and a personal stalker dressed as Santa Claus, and Holly’s ready to fly south until springtime.

But her Sherpa-lined mittens come off when Caroline is taken into custody. Can Holly wrap up the case in time for Christmas…even after she gains the true killer’s attention? Find out in ‘Twas the Knife Before Christmas, Jacqueline Frost’s second pine-scented Christmas Tree Farm mystery.
