A typical day? This is not a typical day. It’s not even the atypical day I had planned.
I should be meandering along one of Elysian Springs’ gorgeous nature trails, eating one of my boyfriend, Michael’s, million calorie breakfasts, or soaking in the “clothing optional” hot tubs (God forbid!) Instead, I’m stuck here, pacing back and forth in the center’s lending library, water-logged tennis shoes squishing and squeaking with every step.
Today wasn’t supposed to be normal—Michael, Bella, and I are on vacation, after all—but it shouldn’t have been like this. I wasn’t supposed to find a body floating in the resort’s hot tub—the second body I’ve found in six months. Believe me, it doesn’t get any easier.
At least this time the victim wasn’t a friend. I guess you could even call Monica my enemy, though I’d never have wished her a violent death. I even tried to revive her with CPR, not that it much good.
I wish I were back in Seattle. A typical day at home involves nothing more stressful than teaching yoga classes, managing Serenity Yoga, and taking my German shepherd, Bella, for at least twenty-five bio breaks. Sometimes we even sneak in a quick visit with Michael at Pete’s Pets. If only I could rewind time…
But that kind of thinking won’t get me anywhere.
I feel kind of guilty, to tell you the truth. The Yoga Sutras say we should be neutral toward evil, and when it came to Monica, I was anything but neutral. I even threatened to kill her—twice. Not that I meant it. I would never…
Hey, wait a minute. The police don’t think I killed Monica, do they? I threatened her, but I’m like Bella—all bark, no bite. And sure, I was found alone with the body, yanking on the leash wrapped around it. I suppose if you walked in on us, it could have looked like I was strangling Monica, but I was trying to save her life. Everyone knows that, right?
Oh no. I think I’m about to be sick.
Take some deep breaths, Kate. Inhale, exhale. Inhale, exhale. Don’t panic. At least not until you talk to the police.
“Excuse me, Miss Davidson. Sergeant Bill is ready to question you now.”
Nope. Not a typical day at all.
You can read more about Kate and her rambunctious German shepherd Bella in A Killer Retreat, the second book in the yoga and dog-related Downward Dog Mystery Series, published by Midnight Ink. Murder Strikes A Pose was the first book in the series.

It definitely would be a bad day to discover a body! This sounds like a very fun read!!
I’m happy I don’t stumble over dead bodies like the folks in these mysteries. lol! Of course if they didn’t we wouldn’t have so many fun mysteries to read.

Everyone that I know that has read book one has told me how good it was, and so I will be attempting to get to read it as I already bought a copy of that one, and so how nice it would be to get book 2 and read both one after the other. I like to do the back to back reading while the previous book is still fresh in my mind. Thank you for the opportunity.
