For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Leona Elkin. My birth certificate says I’m in my sixties but that’s just to make my twin sister, Margaret Louise, feel better.
The truth is, though, I’m far younger than that—in body and spirit. In fact, when I look in the mirror, I see someone half that age…as do the handsome young men whom I allow to lavish me with flowers and fine dining invitations (or, as fine dining as one can find in a town like Sweet Briar, South Carolina).
I gave up my world-traveling ways when my sister coerced me into moving home to Sweet Briar some six or so years ago when her husband—Jake—passed away. Since then, I’ve opened an antique shop (more for amusement than anything else) and gotten involved with Margaret Louise’s sewing circle.
Now, before you go thinking I sew, let me correct that assumption (along with a few others people seem to toss in my direction)…
- I don’t sew. I attend weekly sewing circle meetings for one reason and one reason only—that’s where I get all the good gossip. Oh, and I also enjoy trading barbs with the circle’s resident old biddy, Rose.
- I don’t cook. That’s what a man (and his wallet) is for.
- I don’t like children. Unless, of course, you’re talking about my precious little bunny, Paris, who made me a Nana a few months ago.
Between you and me, I suspect the women in my sister’s sewing circle are rather jealous of me. Then again, why wouldn’t they be? I’m smart, I’m poised, I’m witty, I’m classy, I’m stunningly beautiful, and I’m on the verge of being cast as the leading lady in a major motion picture being shot right here in Sweet Briar.
Yes, you read that right.
The leading lady.
In a major motion picture.
Provided, of course, I don’t get charged with the original leading lady’s murder, first…
Leona Elkin gets herself in some serious trouble in the Southern Sewing Circle’s sixth installment—REAP WHAT YOU SEW (release date: April 3rd). Only, she’s not going down for the crime alone. To find out what happens, visit your local bookstore and pick up your copy of REAP WHAT YOU SEW by Elizabeth Lynn Casey, today!
** Thanks to the publisher, I have one (1) copy of REAP WHAT YOU SEW to give away. Contest open to residents of the US only. Contest ends April 8. Leave a valid-email address with your comment. The book will be shipped directly from the publisher. **

Oh I love Leona and her fiestiness….did I spell that right?? I always forget that her and Margaret are twins as they are so different. Margaret reminds me of my ex husband’s grandmother….she always did like me better than him. I call her my Alabama Gramma! Man could that woman cook in the true Southern tradition that even Paula Dean cannot match.
Cannot wait to read this book as it is one of my very favorites. Every time I new one comes out it is like going home to visit with old friends.
Wow what a good prize to win, Would so love to win this book

Love it!! She is a real character. I am the same when it comes to not being as old as my birth certificate says. I am 65 as per paper but in my heart and soul, I am much younger. How does she get her way so much? Yes, I would love to read about about her and the mystery!!!

I want to meat Leona! She seems real to me–I’m her age, too–but I think she lives a much more interesting life.
