Lexy Baker first appeared in Killer Cupcakes and one of the best ways to learn about a person is by asking questions, so let’s get to know Lexy.

What is your name?
Lexy Baker. I guess with a name like that I was always destined to have a bakery.

How old are you?
I’m in my mid-thirties. I wish I could be more specific but you know how it is. . . a lady never wants to tell her exact age. Or weight. You’re not going to ask my weight, are you?

What is your profession?
I own a bakery. Yes, it is a fabulous dream job. Though I don’t spend much time in the bakery as I’m usually busy making sure my grandmother and her friends don’t get into trouble.

Do you have a significant other?
I have a husband. Funny story how we met. I had just purchased my grandmother’s house, and he lived in the house behind her. My dog, Sprinkles, slipped through the fence and decided to investigate his shrubs late one night. He caught me trying to retrieve her in my cupcake pajamas. Things got even rockier when I discovered he was the homicide detective investigating the suspicious death of my ex-boyfriend and I was his main suspect.

What is his name and profession?
His name is Jack Perillo, and he’s a homicide detective.

Any children?
No children. Unless you consider my grandmother, Nans, and her three friends Ruth, Ida and Helen. Sometimes it feels like they are my children because I have to chase around after them and try to keep them out of trouble.

Do you have any siblings?
No.

Do your parents live near you?
No, actually my parents drive around the country in an RV and send me quirky postcards from the strange places they visit like the worlds largest ball of twine.

Who is your best friend?
Cassie. She helps me out at the bakery and runs things when I’m not there, which is pretty much all the time.

Cats, dogs or other pets?
I have a white Shih-tzu named Sprinkles.

What town do you live in?
Brook Ridge Falls New Hampshire. It’s a quaint New England town complete with brick shops and a charming waterfall.

Type of dwelling and do you own or rent?
I own a craftsman style bungalow. It was my grandmother’s house, full of wonderful childhood memories. Did I mention that she was the one that taught me to bake right in that very house? She sold the house to me when she moved into the retirement community in town so she could hang out more with Ruth, Ida and Helen. Little did I know that would mean that I would spend most of my time driving them around trying to keep them from getting into trouble.

What is your favorite spot in your home?
The kitchen. Nans taught me to bake there and Jack and I have had many wonderful meals there.

Favorite meal and dessert?
Hmmm. . . that’s a tough one. Jack and I cook steak a lot so I guess that’s my favorite. I couldn’t possibly pick a favorite dessert – is that a trick question?

Favorite hobby?
Baking!

Favorite color?
Pink.

Favorite author?
Agatha Christie.

Favorite vacation spot?
Vacation? I’ve never been on a vacation, but I suppose I’d like

Favorite sports team?
Boston Red Sox.

Movies or live theater?
Movies. Actually, I prefer cooking shows.

Are you a morning or a night person?
Morning!

Amateur or professional sleuth and whom do you work with?
I’m an amateur and work with my grandmother and her three friends. I guess you might say they’re professionals. They have the Ladies Detective Club and have become quite popular. They have a pretty good track record too.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
I get up early because there’s morning baking to do. But it always seems like no sooner do I get the scones in the oven when a dead body shows up somewhere. Normally I would probably just mind my own business but my grandmother is usually involved. Either she wants to solve the murder or she might be one of the suspects. Either way, that means the rest of the day is spent driving the three of them around interviewing suspects and collecting clues. At night I relax at home with Jack and Sprinkles which usually includes a failed attempt to pry sensitive police information about the case out of Jack.
