There are few things that get me up and moving out of my bed like a price busting sale. My name is Maggie Gerber and I’m a bargainaholic! With the assistance of my friends, the Good Buy Girls, I clip coupons and shop sales and when I find a really good score, I stock up and do some resale online.
Why am I so thrifty? Well, I was widowed when my baby girl was just two and with only a part time job doing medical billing for Dr. Franklin to support the two of us, I had to squeeze every penny until it could be used as copper wire. Now my baby is away at college, but even with her scholarships, I need to maintain my thrift to help her out.
The GBG’s are in jeopardy, however, as one of our members, Claire Freemont, has been detained by the sheriff, Sam Collins, because an old boyfriend of hers was found stabbed to death in the basement of the library where she works. I am determined to prove her innocence and Joanne Claramotta and Ginger Lancaster, my fellow GBG’s, are with me. We’re kind of like the three musketeers, you know, one for all and all for one, except there are four of us and we’re really all about sales instead of swords.
Things are getting complicated because I can tell that Clare is hiding something. I’ve gotten Maxwell Button, boy genius, to represent her but even with a genius in her corner, she needs to be straight with us so we can help her. The clock is ticking and the sheriff is looking to lock her up for good.
Now if I can just keep my temper when I am forced to deal with Sheriff Sam Collins, oh, did I forget to mention that he broke my heart when I was seventeen? Yes, he did and I’ve never forgiven him for cheating on me with my rival Summer Phillips, who is still my archenemy, especially when she tries to ruin a perfectly good sale at Stegner’s by swiping all of the good stuff right out of my hands!
