Marley first appeared in The Crêpes of Wrath and one of the best ways to learn about a person is by asking questions, so let’s get to know Marley.

What is your name?
Marley McKinney.

How old are you?
Thirty-three, going on thirty-four. My birthday is in early December.

What is your profession?
Business owner. I own a seaside pancake house called The Flip Side.

Do you have a significant other?
I have a wonderful boyfriend. He’s gorgeous, funny, and kind.

What is his name and profession?
His name is Brett Collins. He owns a lawn and garden company.

Any children?
No, but maybe one day.

Do you have any sibling(s)?
I had a step brother and step sister, several years younger than me. I loved them like crazy. They were killed in a tragic accident, along with my step dad.

I have an orange tabby cat named Flapjack and my boyfriend has an adorable goldendoodle named Bentley.

What town do you live in?
Wildwood Cove, a seaside town on the Olympic Peninsula.

I inherited my beachfront Victorian from my grandmother’s cousin. It’s beautiful and full of character. I’m having a lot of fun with renovating and decorating to make the house my own.

What is your favorite spot in your house?
I love sitting on the back porch, where I can enjoy the view of the ocean. When the weather’s not good for sitting outside, I love to curl up with a book on the window seat in my bedroom.

Who is your best friend?
Lisa Morales. She lives here in Wildwood Cove and works as legal assistant.

Amateur sleuth or professional?
Amateur.

Whom do you work with when sleuthing?
I’ve had help from various friends, but whenever I need some muscle The Flip Side’s chef, Ivan, is the one I depend on.

Favorite meal?
Quinoa salad with avocado and lemon-Dijon vinaigrette.

Favorite dessert?
Pumpkin pie crêpes! Sometimes I’ll eat them for breakfast or brunch as well.

Favorite hobby?
I have three: reading, running, and walking on the beach.

Favorite vacation spot?
Before Wildwood Cove was my home, it was my favourite vacation spot.

Favorite color?
Blue.

Favorite author?
Agatha Christie.

Favorite sports team?
I don’t watch a lot of sports but my boyfriend and I like the Seattle Mariners.

Movies or Broadway?
Movies. My best friend and I have a movie night at least once a month.

Are you a morning or a night person?
I’m definitely a morning person, which is a good thing since the pancake house opens at 7am and I typically arrive at work around 6am.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
I wake up around 5am and—weather permitting—I walk along the beach to get to work. I serve meals and take care of office tasks at the pancake house until the mid-afternoon. After work, I often go for a run, hunt down clues, or read. I usually wrap up the day by spending time with my boyfriend, Brett.

You can read about Marley in Yeast of Eden, the fourth book in the “Pancake House” mystery series, coming October 30, 2018 from Lyrical Underground.

In USA Today bestselling author Sarah Fox’s delicious new Pancake House Mystery, it’s up to Marley McKinney to discover the waffle truth behind a rival’s murder . . .

Winter has come to Wildwood Cove, and riding in on the chill is Wally Fowler. Although he’s been away for years, establishing his reputation as the self-proclaimed Waffle King, the wealthy blowhard has returned to the coastal community to make money, not friends—by pitting his hot and trendy Waffle Kingdom against Marley McKinney’s cozy pancake house, The Flip Side. Wally doesn’t see anything wrong in a little healthy competition, until he’s murdered in his own state-of-the art kitchen.

Marley isn’t surprised when the authorities sniff around The Flip Side for a motive, but it’s her best friend Lisa who gets grilled, given her sticky history with the victim. When a second murder rocks the town, it makes it harder than ever for Marley to clear Lisa’s name. Marley’s afraid that she’s next in line to die—and the way things are looking, the odds of surviving her investigation could be stacked against her.
