This was such a fun book to read with Mackenzie trying to uncover the truth about her Uncle Al while keeping her mother’s secret. Taking on a case for her father puts her on the trail of a treasure hunt and once again, she stumbles upon another dead body. When it appears that her father may be implicated, she finds herself dealing with a congressman, a bar owner, and her boyfriend’s ex-wife. Solving these will test Mackenzie’s mettle but luckily, she has her genius daughter, her mother, her Nona and her detective boyfriend.

This was a fast-paced and action-packed drama that kept me immersed in all that was happening with some laugh-out-loud moments. From the meeting with her father to the conversation with her mother to dealing with Hercules to rubbing in high society and to the threat on her life, all were skillfully done to provide me with a good solid mystery, a slew of suspects and clues scattered around that kept me engaged throughout. The author knows how to paint a picture in my head with visually descriptive narrative that placed me in the middle of all the action. It was I saying, “oh no,” but then an unexpected ally played a part. This is the best book in the series and one of my favorites and I look forward to more exciting adventures with Mackenzie and Mac. . . and Hunter too.
