I don’t know about you, but I’d love to have the bottomless purse of the heroine of the Books By the Bay mysteries. I could really purchase some stellar gifts for my family and friends.
As for Olivia, she’s more of an online shopper than a battle-the-crowds-at-the-mall type. So, after pouring herself a tumbler of Chivas Regal, she’ll sit at her desk overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and pull out her credit card.
First on her list is her oldest and truest friend, the roller skating dwarf, Dixie Weaver. Dixie has a heart as big as the entire town, but Olivia knows she wouldn’t appreciate a lavish gift. Dixie is also forced to shop in the kids’ section and is tired of wearing clothes covered by Strawberry Shortcake or Barbie, so Olivia will send her some designer clothes that are colorful and flirty, but no made for a kid.
Next is her friend Laurel Hobbs. Laurel is a journalist, wife, and mother of twin toddlers. Olivia buys her a deluxe spa package, shaking her head as she enters her credit card number and marvels over how much work her friend gets done each and every day.
Harris Williams is easy. He’s into high-tech gizmos and loves video games, so even though the man’s in his twenties, Olivia gets him a new Xbox and a few of the more violent games because Harris love to play soldier.
And Millay? The beautiful, Goth bartender down at Fish Nets? Olivia buys her a vintage motorcycle jacket from eBay. It’ll go perfectly with the lace-up black leather boots the gorgeous young woman always wears – even in the middle of the summer.
But what of the final member of the Bayside Book Writers? Police Chief Sawyer Rawlings? What will Olivia give a man who drinks chocolate milk and favors Hawaiian print shirts on his days off? A man who loves walks on the beach and is a talented artist? Shirts? Canvases? Painting supplies?
Why is it suddenly so hard to pick a gift for this man? He’s always been just another friend, but something about Olivia’s feelings for him are changing, deepening. To find out just how much, pick up the newest Books By the Bay mystery, THE LAST WORD, and see what kind of gift Olivia decided to give Rawlings to show him how she truly feels.
Happy Holidays from Olivia, Captain Haviland, and the Bayside Book Writers!
You can read more about Olivia in THE LAST WORD, the third book in the “Books by the Bay” mystery series. The first book in the series is A KILLER PLOT.
THE LAST WORD: Olivia Limoges and the Bayside Book Writers are excited about Oyster Bay’s newest resident: bestselling novelist Nick Plumley, who’s come to work on his next book. But when Olivia stops by Plumley’s rental she finds that he’s been strangled to death. Her instincts tell her that something from the past came back to haunt him, but she never expects that the investigation could spell doom for one of her dearest friends…

I love this series.

Wow power shopping!!

I love this series. And yes, I too would love to go shopping with Olivia. But even more, I’d like to sit down and chat with her over a glass of Scotch or better yet attend a Scotch tasting with her.

I love this new series and have been waiting for the next book to come out!
I am so excited this book is out!! And yes, wouldn’t it be nice to have such a deep purse. 😉

What a great group of characters! I prefer on-line shopping as well, trying to find that perfect gift for someone. But, unlike Olivia, I don’t have one of those “bottomless” purses. Sigh…. I can’t wait to start this series!

This sounds like a great series! I’d love to start reading it and, of course, I would love to have a bottomless purse, too! lol
It would be nice if you could buy your friends something you know they would love, and I’m sure there are people who can. But I love these books and their characters. Thanks Ellery and Dru for the chance to win this newest one.

Now you just knew I would have to enter this contest. Books 1 and 2 of the series are all alone without this one sitting next to them on my bookshelf.
I want to be Olivia when I grow up. Hell, I’d like to be her without having to grow up.

Wow! I miust read about Olivia! She is exactly like me with one exception. I do buy all my gits on-line but instead of paying for them via the credit card, I use gift certificates. I am on a very low fixed income so I do surveys on several sites to get the gift certificates. Then I apply them to my balance and the fun is shopping for the perfect and affordable gift.
I really want to read this book!!!
Absolutely love this series.

I love the cover of this book. I can’t wait to read it!

The characters in this book sound like so much fun! I can hardly wait to read it. Cozy mysteries always seem to have fun characters to “meet”–I guess that’s one reason I like them so much.

Please fix my email above–it should be suefarrell.farrell@gmail.com. My fingers got entirely off the correct position!
I absolutely can’t wait to read this book! I’m not entering since I live in Canada, but wanted to comment to say I loved her christmas shopping list 🙂

A bottomless purse would be perfect! I’m in charge of the Holiday Shop at my daughter’s elementary school this week – it would come in perfect for all of the kids that are wanting to spend more money than their parents sent. I’m looking forward to reading about Olivia’s latest going-ons!!

This is such a fun series. How perfect would it be to sitting there overlooking the Atlantic & find that special gift for every one in your life. The bottomless purse sounds pretty cool too! Congratulations on the new release & looking forward to the next on to come. Thanks for the giveaway!

I’m with Olivia: Yay for online shopping. Can’t wait to read this book. It’s going to be a New Year’s present to myself for getting through the holidays.
I was wondering if this was the last Olivia book since the Pie Shoppe Series is coming out soon?
