Sabrina Tate first appeared in Black Cat Crossing and one of the best ways to learn about a person is by asking questions, so let’s get to know Sabrina.

What is your name?
Sabrina Tate.

How old are you?
Thirty-eight.

What is your profession?
Mystery author.

Do you have a significant other?
Yes.

What is his name and profession?
Luke Griffin, who’s the local game warden.

Any children?
No.

Do you have any sibling(s)?
Yes; I have one brother named Nick.

Do your parents live near you?
No. My father, Aunt Rowe’s brother, passed away. My mother lives in Houston with her new husband.

Who is your best friend?
Tyanne Clark, owner of the local bookstore. We’ve been friends since we were eight years old.

Cats, dogs or other pets?
I have a cat named Hitchcock that some people in town, unfortunately, call the bad luck cat because of a very old (and stupid, in my opinion) legend.

What town do you live in?
Lavender, in the Texas Hill Country.

House or building complex? Own or Rent?
I live in one of my Aunt Rowe’s rental cottages – the Monte Carlo cottage.

What is your favorite spot in your house?
I enjoy sitting on the deck and listening to the rushing water of the nearby Glidden River.

Favorite meal? Favorite dessert?
I love breakfast, maybe because it’s usually served with coffee, my favorite beverage. I do a lot of baking and have many favorite desserts – cheesecake tops my list.

Favorite hobby?
Definitely baking.

Favorite color?
Royal blue.

Favorite author?
Linda Castillo. [Editor’s Note: Did you read her latest?]

Favorite vacation spot?
Glacier National Park in Montana.

Favorite sports team?
I’m not into pro sports, but I enjoy watching the local Little League play ball.

Movies or Broadway?
Movies.

Are you a morning or a night person?
I’m a night owl.

Amateur sleuth or professional?
Amateur.

Whom do you work with when sleuthing?
I drag my friend Tyanne into investigations, over her husband’s disapproval.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
Hitchcock and I usually go up to Aunt Rowe’s house in the mornings to check in with her and Glenda, her housekeeper/cook. Aunt Rowe is a handful – I could never guess what she’ll be up to next – and I feel compelled to keep an eye on her. Too often, I get distracted from my writing, but I try to spend several hours a day working on my latest book, sometimes in my cottage and sometimes at the local coffee shop, Hot Stuff. I touch base with Luke and Tyanne every day, by phone if not in person.

You can read about Sabrina in The Black Cat Steps on a Crack, the fourth book in the “Bad Luck Cat” cozy mystery series, released June 11, 2019.

Sabrina Tate and her cat, Hitchcock, must sort through the clues when a librarian is killed and justice is overdue.

With construction on the town’s new library nearing completion, mystery writer Sabrina Tate is thrilled that local book lovers, and her own forthcoming novel, will soon have a fresh new home. But tensions are rising at the site as the headstrong new librarian insists on telling the construction crew how to do their jobs, bringing work to a standstill. When Sabrina’s cat unearths the dead body of the librarian not long after—and a good friend’s husband is named as the main suspect—she finds herself being pulled into a murder investigation yet again.

While virtually all the workers at the site had a motive to commit the dark deed, Sabrina turns her attention to the victim’s background looking for clues, but hits a dead end when she can’t locate any of the woman’s family. As a string of planted evidence and a murky collection of malicious characters starts to surface, Sabrina knows she and Hitchcock will have to tread carefully, before the library killer decides to check them out for good . . .

Includes delicious dessert recipes!
