Sandy Moss is the main protagonist in the “Jersey Girl Legal” mystery series and sits down to answer a few questions so that we can get to know her better.

What is your full name?
Sandra Moss. I’m told before Ellis Island it was Moskowitz.

How old are you?
Bold question! I’m in my thirties, somewhere.

What is your profession?
I am an attorney. Before I moved to Los Angeles I was an assistant county prosecutor in New Jersey and now I’m mostly a family law attorney in LA. But my firm liked my work on a couple of criminal cases, so now I’m also the head of the criminal law division, which consists of me and one other attorney. Some division.

Do you have a significant other?
I’ve been dating Patrick McNabb for some time now. You might have seen him on television or in movies. We’re talking about moving in together. Like that’s your business.

If so, what is his name and profession?
See above. Currently the star of Torn on one streaming service or another. I can’t keep it straight.

Do you have any children?
No, I do not.

Do you have any siblings?
I have a sister. It’s a whole story and my readers don’t know about it yet, but yeah. I have a sister.

Are your parents nearby?
They are not. My mother is still back in Jersey. Let’s leave it at that.

Who is your best friend?
Angie. I’ve known her since high school and we’re the best of friends. She flew out here two years ago to protect me when I was in some danger. And she hasn’t left. She is now Patrick’s executive assistant, which is some step up considering her last job was managing two Dairy Queens.

Do you have any pets?
Not so far. I like dogs and cats are relatively easy to take care of. So no.

What town do you live in?
Los Angeles. Specifically, Burbank. The whole “moving-in-with-Patrick” thing is kind of a sensitive area for me right now. We’ll see.

Do you live in a small town or a big city?
They don’t come a lot larger than LA. I’m still getting used to it.

What type of dwelling do you own or rent?
Angie and I rent.

What is your favorite spot in your home?
I’m at my office or Patrick’s house most of the time. Angie and I have dinner in the kitchen/living area. Pizza or Thai usually but sometimes Angie cooks, and she’s amazing. (That’s one for you, Ang.)

What is your favorite meal and dessert?
Things that are bad for me. LA has every gorgeous woman in the world and the competition gets a little overwhelming sometimes. I’m not always playing the long game.

Do you have any hobbies?
Who has time?

What is your favorite vacation spot?
The next time I take a vacation I’ll let you know.

What is your idea of a really fun time?
I like a quiet, subdued dinner with Patrick or just sitting around watching a classic movie with him and sometimes Angie. I’m easy to please.

If you were to write a memoir, what would you call it?
Why would I write a memoir? Have I done something noteworthy? I’d probably call it “Not My Choice: Criminal Law Against My Will.”

Amateur or professional sleuth and whom do you work with?
I’m a lawyer. I don’t sleuth. Our investigator Nate Garrigan does the sleuthing. I try the case in court.

What is a typical day in your life like in general and when you are on a case?
I haven’t had a typical day since I moved out here. A typical day in my real life takes place in New Jersey.

Movie premiers, murder charges and celebrity shenanigans? It’s all in a day’s work for New Jersey prosecutor turned LA family lawyer Sandy Moss.

Former New Jersey prosecutor Sandy Moss moved to a prestigious Los Angeles law firm to make a new start as a family lawyer. So it seems a little unfair that Seaton, Taylor have created a criminal law division specifically for her. Just because she’s successfully defended two murder trials, it doesn’t mean she likes them!

But when abrasive Hollywood movie director Robert Reeves is accused of murdering a stuntman on set, Sandy finds she can’t say no when he demands her help. Robert might be an unpleasant, egotistical liar, but something tells Sandy that he’s innocent – even if no one else can see it.

At least this time, she reassures herself, her charismatic, adorable, and oh-so annoying TV star boyfriend Patrick McNabb isn’t involved in the case. He isn’t . . . right?
