Scarlett Parker first appeared in Cloche and Dagger and one of the best ways to learn about a person is by asking questions, so let’s get to know Scarlett.

What is your name?
Scarlett Parker.

How old are you?
Twenty-nine-ish.

What is your profession?
Part owner of a hat shop in London. I’m American and share ownership of the hat shop, left to us by our grandmother Mim, with my British cousin.

Do you have a significant other?
Yes.

What is his name and profession?
Harrison Wentworth, investment specialist and also the business manager for the hat shop.

Any children?
No.

Do you have any siblings?
No.

Do your parents live near you?
No.

Who is your best friend?
My cousin, Vivian Tremont, who is also the milliner for our shop.

Cats, dogs or other pets?
There might be – but you have to read Buried to the Brim to find out! Corgies are involved, I’m just sayin’.

What town do you live in?
Notting Hill, London.

Type of dwelling and do you own or rent?
We live in an apartment above the hat shop in the heart of Notting Hill.

What is your favorite spot in your home?
The garden in the back of the house.

Favorite meal and dessert?
Pub grub – fish and chips and Moon Pies (sent from home – the U.S. – by my American dad, my British Mum doesn’t understand our love for them) for dessert.

Favorite hobby?
Watching British television, especially the British Baking Show.

Favorite color?
Green, like Harrison’s eyes.

Favorite author?
Ian Rankin. I love a good thriller.

Favorite vacation spot?
Florida, where I used to manage a hotel.

Favorite sports team?
Harrison’s rugby team, the Thirsty Lions! Roar!

Movies or live theater?
Movies, preferably rom-com.

Are you a morning or a night person?
Night, definitely night.

Amateur or professional and whom do you work with?
Amateur! The hat shop crew, Harrison, Vivian, Fee, and our friends and neighbors, Nick and Andre.

In a few sentences, what is a typical day in your life like?
I’m in charge of the customer relations for the hat shop and tempering Viv’s artistic whims, since she’s the milliner (i.e. mad hatter). I spend a lot of time promoting the shop and working with customers, scheduling appointments, fittings, and such. After busy days in the shop, since neither Viv nor I can cook, we spend our evenings out to dinner in the neighborhood with our hat shop crew or picking up take away and sharing it in our apartment, while enjoying television or a rousing board game or two.

Buried To The Brim is the sixth book in the “Hat Shop” cozy mystery series, released January 28, 2020.

New York Times bestselling author Jenn McKinlay’s beloved Hat Shop duo Scarlett Parker and Vivian Tremont return to don their sleuthing caps and solve a murder that’s death in show.

London’s most refined canines and their humans are gearing up for the Pets and Wellness Society’s annual dog show–and Betty Wentworth, favorite aunt to Scarlett’s fiancé Harrison and proud owner of corgi front-runner Freddy, knows that this could be their year with the right edge. Never one to turn away a corgi in need, Scarlett convinces her milliner cousin, Vivian, to design matching hats for dream team Betty and Freddy as they compete for Best in Show.

It’s a tail wagging good time until the dog-food sponsor of the event is found dead and Betty is the prime suspect. Vivian and Scarlett agree to enter the competition in Betty’s place and help Harrison catch the real killer before Betty is collared for a crime she didn’t commit.
