Why do you write the genre that you write?
Is there another genre? I have always read mysteries. I read the complete spectrum from cozies to thrillers. My former agent, Jacky Sach, was the one who suggested I try writing cozy mysteries. I had always read and enjoyed them, so I took her advice and now I write three series.

Tell us how you got into writing?
When I was a kid, I thought that books were the best thing in the world. They could take you anywhere and introduce you to people you might never meet or know about. Consequently, I was into writing at a young age and was lucky to have teachers who encouraged me in that direction. But right around college, I thought I should be more business oriented. I spent a lot of years doing other
things before I came back to it. I still can’t believe that I’m actually a writer!

What’s next for you?
Murder Outside the Lines is coming on September 28th! It takes place just before Halloween and is loaded with ghostly happenings. I’m currently writing A Colorful Scheme, the fourth book in the Pen & Ink Mysteries.

What are you reading now?
I love MC Beaton’s Agatha Raisin books and am reading Agatha Raisin and the Wellspring of Death. Next up is John Grisham’s Camino Winds.

Now to have some fun . . .

Vanilla or chocolate
Depends on what it is. Chocolate ice cream, for sure! But sometimes I do like a vanilla cupcake.

Pizza or burgers
Burgers. I do like pizza, but I’m picky about it.

Broccoli or squash
Both! But I prefer my broccoli raw, please.

Breakfast, lunch, or dinner
I really want to say breakfast, but it’s usually short and sometimes a rush. So I’m going with dinner.
The kind where good friends sit around talking and lingering through dessert.

Mountain or beach
I live in the mountains, so naturally I want to go to the beach.

Introvert or Extrovert
Sigh. Definitely extrovert, though I have my introverted moments. I have recently realized
that even though I am an extrovert, I am not a performer. So I’m thrilled to talk with
everyone, but please don’t put that spotlight on me. LOL!

And even more fun . . .

You are stranded on a deserted island. What are your three must-haves?
I would so love to say a pair of high heels, lipstick, and a cask of wine. But I’m way too practical for that.
I’m assuming that there’s no electricity or Wi-Fi, so anything electronic would be useless. A book on deserted
island survival hacks would be helpful. Also a Swiss Army knife. Most important, a dog to keep me sane.
And if I can sneak them in, cases of pens and legal pads because I suspect there will be a lot of time to write.
